A few friends who got tired of defaulting to fast food
SausePan started as a group chat about what to cook for dinner. It turned into something we think can help a lot of people.
The real barrier to home cooking isn't skill — it's the blank stare at the fridge
We've all been there. It's 6 PM, you're tired, and the question "what's for dinner?" feels impossible. Not because you can't cook — but because figuring out what to make, whether you have the ingredients, and where to get what you're missing is just too much friction.
So you order takeout. Again. And it's fine, but it's expensive, it's not great for you, and somewhere in the back of your mind you know you could do better.
That's the problem we set out to fix. Not cooking itself — the decision-making that happens before you even turn on the stove.
Built by people who cook — and people who really wanted to
We're a small team of friends. Some of us cook well, some of us were learning, and all of us were frustrated by the same thing: there was no simple tool that connected what you already had at home to what you could actually make for dinner.
We started building SausePan for ourselves. A way to look at what's in the pantry, get real recipe ideas, find the nearest store for what's missing, and actually feel confident walking into the kitchen.
It's still early days. But we're building something we genuinely use, and we think you will too.
"Home cooking shouldn't require a plan, a full pantry, or a culinary degree. It should just require knowing where to start."
Practical over perfect
We're not trying to make you a chef. We're trying to make tonight's dinner easier.
Built for real life
Busy schedules, half-empty fridges, picky eaters — we design for how people actually live.
Honest about the problem
Fast food is convenient for a reason. We respect that, and we're building something genuinely better — not just preachy.
